…and fair season is officially in full swing after The Big Butler Fair kicked things off as they always do over the 4th since its establishment in 1855. Going on now through Saturday August the 5th is the 68th annual Fayette County Fair in Dunbar. I’ll be there LOL on Saturday August 5th from 4 to 6. And the 66th annual Garrett County Fair is going on in McHenry Maryland. The longest running and first fair in the region is the Washington County Fair that started in 1798. Highlights of all fairs include all kinds of agricultural events to animals, side show attractions, rides, games and food, especially the food. There’s nothing like the smell of deep fried food at the fair. It’s a symphony of grease, sugar, and salt that fills the air and your arteries. But how bad can it be if you only eat it once a year. So pay no attention to the food police. They’re the ones who come out of the woodwork every Thanksgiving trying to talk you out of stuffing your face at the dinner table. Your at the fair and besides where else are you going to find deep fired Oreo’s or deep fried butter to go along with you deep fried funnel cake. Hey, leave me alone. I’m drinking a diet pop. That’s what I call a balanced diet. So go ahead indulge yourself in those deep fried delights, its a feast you can only find at the fair. It might mean a lifetime of regret but hey you only get to go around the sun so many times, enjoy yourself!
