…and what a way to start a weekend, a bridge collapse in Pittsburgh that thankfully led to no fatalities due to the timing of it falling and that from what I can tell sunk more than collapsed to the ground over Frick Park. Then you had the Bomb Cyclone in New England that dumped, up to two feet of snow, caused over 100 thousand to be without power and forced the cancellation of thousands of flights. But some residents called the bomb a dud and mocked the weather channel over exaggeration of the blizzard. Videos were posted online of residents confused over the hysteria. Everyday Maggie posted “It’s a F…in’ joke. It’s what New England is made of. Wake up Weather Channel” A woman filmed a guy saying, “it’s gonna snow like this and then its gonna stop and life goes on” as he shoveled a sidewalk. Some businesses were open. One pub owner said keeping the taps flowing in inclement weather is something of a family tradition. For the record the National weather service says Saturday’s blizzard tied the record in Boston for the most snow in a single day, over 23 inches set in 2003 but the most it’s ever received was during the blizzard of ’78 when over 27 inches fell but apparently a total of 30 inches fell this time around. Meanwhile the Weather Channels Jim Cantorie was walking the streets of Boston hoping for some thunder snow, claiming “it’s gonna happen here within the next few hours.” Not sure if he found any but that’s why they pay him the big bucks even during the Bomb Cyclone or what some New Englanders called a dud.
